Amazon app won't download apps

Galaxy tab 4 with Android 4.4.2. I have the Amazon for Tablets (aka Amazon App for Android Tablets) for my Android device and my device is registered with the Amazon website, and I'm all logged in. I just got a $10 credit from Amazon, so I went browsing on Amazon games to look around. When I try to download a free game the web page for a given game says 'This mobile app does not currently support digital downloads' and I can't find a download or install button anywhere.

Do I have to update this Amazon app or install another one?

EDIT: I went to the Amazon link www.amazon.com/mobileapps, entered my email for my Android tablet, got a link, followed the link with Chrome for Android, which took me to Google play, where I updated the Amazon for Tablets to v5.51.3710 via Google Play and I still can't download any apps or games when using the Amazon right on my Tab 4.

I can't even tell what version of the appstore for Android I have.

EDIT May 13: While my Tab 4 is registered to receive Amazon books, it is not an Android device when I go to My Account, My Android Apps and Devices. How do I get it registered under My Android Apps and Devices? There are no instructions on that page.

My old 2011 Kindle K3 is the default device, do I have to remove that to make my tablet the only device for Amazon books? /walmart-product-serial-number-search.html.

This works.

1. Uninstalled Amazon.com app (not the same as Amazon Appstore), rebooted.

2. Installed Amazon Appstore. Link below.

3. Installed Amazon.com app.

4. Signed in to Amazon app, which worked. Went to PC and to Amazon site and pulled up My Devices and my device is now there.

5. You need the Amazon Appstore which is different than the Amazon shopping application. The Amazon Appstore icon may not be on your main desktop when you install it. Amazon Appstore app here. NOTE: the link on the Amazon website for the Android Amazon for tablets is incorrect.
