My WIN 10 Insider 15058 accepted the 15.2.0.1020 Driver after several attempts. Much, much faster now !!

The initial driver was released on 6/21/2006 and has been updated. /the-master-switch-tim-wu-pdf-download.html. So what does your 2nd 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller' actually for.

I just tried testing my Samsung SSDs using the Magician's built-in test, and got wildly fluctuating results on sequential tests for a completely idle machine: from 90000 Random Read IOPS to 135000 Random Read IOPS (same kind of fluctuatiuon in other numbers as well).

  • RAID0 to AHCI for new Samsung 850 EV0 I installed (cloned) an SSD (850 EVO) on an Asus laptop that I bought with a mechanical hard drive. To enhance SSD performance, I changed from 'RAID' to 'AHCI' in the SATA line of my BIOS setup.
  • So I have an 850 Evo 120GB running on a SATA 2 AMD system with AHCI and a fairly old chipset (760G) on Windows 7 64 bit. The IOPS are around 30k and the top speeds are about 250MB/s which is fine by me (SATA 2 after all), assuming everything else works fine.
Comparisons between Windows Standart AHCI Driver and Intel-specific AHCI Driver show no improvement at all on either SATA 850 EVO or 850 EVO M.2, i.e. both fluctuate back and forth with no changes on average.
